Modative submitted for Plan Check and Grading Pre Inspection. It will take 9 days for the project to be assigned a plan checker and then will be reviewed.
Meeting Summary: Katherine Costa and Derek Leavitt from Modative along with Rick Pardo from Pardo Land Use Consultants set up a meeting time for neighborhood outreach at Las Cazuelas Restaurant on 12.05.15 from 10am-12pm. This meeting was encouraged by the Council District Office as a way to meet with neighbors before the Public Hearing. Modative had posted fliers in English and Spanish all over the neighborhood a few days before but only had two people show up for the outreach meeting. The two parties that showed up were the directly adjacent neighbors and another neighbor who used to serve on the Land Use Committee and currently serves on the Highland Park Heritage Trust. Both parties came to hear more about the project and gave their utmost support for the project. Both parties offered to write letters in support of the project. The directly adjacent neighbors also offered to garner more support from other neighbors.
Meeting Summary: Christian Navar and Derek Leavitt met with representatives from Council District 1 to discuss the project, neighborhood outreach, and issues of gentrification brought up in the Neighborhood Council Meeting. The Council Office recommended that Modative set up a neighborhood outreach meeting on a Saturday so that neighbors would have the opportunity to meet with Modative and discuss the project. Modative was very receptive of this suggestion and plans to post fliers for an outreach meeting at Las Cazuelas on Saturday, 12.05.15.
Meeting Summary: Christian Navar, Katherine Costa and Alex Whitehead from Modative attended the Highland Park Land Neighborhood Council Meeting on 10.01.15 to present the project and request the board’s support. The Land Use Committee recommended that the Neighborhood Council support the project. A group of neighbors showed up in opposition to the project, for reasons all dealing with gentrification. Though these issues do not affect land use, the Neighborhood Council sided with these neighbors and voted to oppose the project. In light of this motion, Modative plans to do further neighborhood outreach and meet with the Council District’s Office to discuss the project.
Meeting Summary: Derek Leavitt and Katherine Costa from Modative attended the Highland Park Land Use Committee Meeting on 09.24.15 to present the project and request the committee’s support. The committee is part of the Highland Park Neighborhood Council and meets to review, discuss, and vote on land use issues. The project was well received by the committee and the committee members voted to support the project. The land use committee will recommend that full Neighborhood Council support the project as well. Modative will present and request support at the Neighborhood Council Meeting in October.
